Vertical videos are videos that are shot in portrait mode on smartphones. Previously, viewing a vertical video in the YouTube app added two black bars to the sides of the video, shrinking the actual image and making it difficult to view. Now, vertical videos play in full screen the same way they were filmed, allowing users to have a better experience on mobile devices. YouTube 10.28 is getting a new feature that has been on the want list for quite some time. Portrait videos will now play in full-screen portrait mode. Just sit back and enjoy the video like it was supposed to be watched. Prior to this update, YouTube would display vertical videos in full-screen landscape mode, which kept the actual viewing area nearly as small as the preview screen.
