Will The Promised Neverland Get a Season 3? Answered
There are not currently any plans to release another season of The Promised Neverland, either as a redo of the second season or an expansion covering skipped arcs from the series. What we have is all we’re currently slated to get. The reasons for this are varied. For starters, the second season did adapt the canon ending of the series. Though it may have skipped several key arcs to get there, there wasn’t any deviation into filler content that would have made it a mulligan or easily correctable. As such, it’s pretty clear CloverWorks fully intended to walk away from the series following the end of the second season and were designing it to be as direct an adaptation as possible. This, in turn, means that for season three to be released, CloverWorks would have to release conventional seasons or OVAs covering the skipped arcs. This is an uncommon – if not nonexistent – practice within the industry and wouldn’t be financially viable given the second season’s poor performance. Speaking of which: There’s a lack of a budget to create another season of the show to consider. It was a less than tightly held secret that CloverWorks had next to no budget to create The Promised Neverland’s second season, and as a result, they put out a less than stellar adaptation of the source material. This may be surprising given the success of the first season, but it’s unknown whether this was the fault of CloverWorks or Shonen Jump, who owns the rights to The Promised Neverland as a property. Either way, This means that a well-funded animation studio would need to step in to adapt the next season. Again, this isn’t likely to happen given the poor performance of the second season.
Will The Promised Neverland Get a Full Series Remake?
About the only way, The Promised Neverland could receive a third season is if it gets a full series remake. Luckily, the chances of this occurring aren’t nearly as slim as a new season. Several series have been tapped for full series remakes, with some of the most notable being Fullmetal Alchemist and Trigun. The more popular the series, the higher the chances are that this will happen, and The Promised Neverland still has a decent amount of popularity thanks to its manga. The only catch is that it usually takes a few years for a new adaptation to be considered, meaning we still won’t get new Promised Neverland animated content anytime soon. Hopefully, this cleared up when The Promised Neverland season 3 is coming out. For more on the series, check out any of the related articles down below.
